Faculty and Staff News

During the last year, the Department of Biostatistics has added significant talented faculty and staff to our team. In August of 2005 we recruited Rafe Donahue (PhD in Statistics from Colorado State University) as Research Associate Professor, leading biostatistics for the Section of Surgical Sciences. New assistant professors are Cindy Chen (PhD in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) , Leena Choi (PhD in Biostatistics from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health), Bryan Shepherd (PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Washington), and Chuan Zhou (PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Washington).

The Department is also fortunate to have new Biostatisticians: Aixiang Jiang (MS in biostatistics from the University of Minnesota), Angel An (MS in Statistics from the University of Chicago), Cathy Jenkins (MS in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), Shirley Liu (MS in Biostatistics from the University of Illinois), Jennifer Thompson (MPH in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), Evelyn Wu (MS in Biostatistics from the University of Minnesota), and Sheryl Zhong (MS in Biostatistics from the University of Minnesota).

New Computer Systems Analysts are Charles Dupont (BS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) and Jeremy Stephens (BS from Belmont University). We also welcome new administrative staff, Donna Bock (Budget/Accounting Analyst) and Heather Burgess (Office Assistant IV).
